FPC walking as “Light to the World” in the Durham Holiday Parade

OH, WHAT FUN!  Last year we had a blast walking as friendly beasts in the Durham Holiday Parade.  Let’s do it again!

The Durham Holiday Parade takes place on Saturday, December 8. We line up at 9 a.m. to march down Main Street to Duke’s East Campus   Christmas Parade Instructions for Families). Our theme this year is “Light to the World,” and we have neon glow necklaces for everyone to wear as we march. You may wear as many lights around your hat or your waist or your coat as you want. We want to sparkle, blink, and bring Jesus’ light to the world as we march. All ages are invited to parade with us!  If you have any questions, contact Marilyn (919-451-5352).

Welcome Reception Planned

Welcome Reception Planned
It has been just over two months since John Weicher joined the staff at FPC as our Temporary Associate Pastor of Youth and Their Families. John hit the ground running and our middle and high school youth are delighted to have him as their leader.
This Sunday, October 14, following worship, you are invited to Watts-Hill Hall for a welcome reception for John and his family. Whether you have youth at FPC or not, we want you to stop by and welcome John to the church staff and encourage him in this important ministry to our youth.

FPC building closed October 11 for safety due to Hurricane Michael

FPC building closed October 11 for safety due to Hurricane Michael

On Thursday, October 11, there is a high probability that travel conditions will become unsafe during the day because of Hurricane Michael.  As a result, First Presbyterian Church will be closed to ministry staff and volunteers on Thursday, October 11.  The Day School has also made the decision to be closed Thursday.  Leaders of groups who normally meet at FPC on Thursdays have been notified that the building is closed all day and into the evening. Church staff will be working from home and reachable via texting, mobile phone, and church email.  Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.  Please pray for all who are in the path of this major storm.
