Inclement Weather Notice

Inclement Weather Notice

In the event of inclement weather, we will publish notification of cancellations or delays on Sundays or weekdays on our website, through our telephone system, FACEBOOK, and on the websites and broadcasts of our local television (WRAL, WTVD) affiliates. We encourage all church members, guests, and staff to always observe all safety precautions possible by staying off the roads during icy or especially stormy weather.

SUNDAY INCLEMENT WEATHER PROCEDURES

  • FPC will make every reasonable effort to be open for worship at 11:00 a.m. every Sunday morning.
  • In the event of extreme weather conditions, we may cancel Sunday School, worship, and other scheduled activities.

WEEKDAY INCLEMENT WEATHER PROCEDURES

  • Church closings during the week will typically follow the schedule of the Durham Public Schools system.
  • On some occasions, the church office will be open when schools are closed.
  • Evening meetings and activities will be cancelled on days when the church office has been closed due to inclement weather.

You  should always call the church office (919-682-5511) to confirm your meeting or event is still being held when there is an active travel advisory.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving!

The Church Office will be closed on  Thursday and Friday, November 24-25 in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday.

O God, our Provider, you open your hand and lavish good gifts upon us, so we give you thanks. You create the beauty of the earth and stock it with abundance to sustain human life. You give us friends who share the journey of our lives; family who make us laugh with joy and dry our tears of sorrow; strangers who minister to our needs with generous kindness. You knit us into your larger family called church to encourage us in your Way. “Thank you” seems insufficient for all your blessings, yet we say it with all we are as an offering of gratitude for our many blessings that we name before you. For all your providence with the feast of life that you set before us, we give ourselves to you with all we are in thanks and praise. Amen.

Dear friends,

The events of this week have shaken this nation and our own community.  The numbers tell the story – we are as divided as we feared we might be.  But political division is not new to us.
