Legacy Society – Planned Giving

The Legacy Society at First Presbyterian Church, Durham, NC

Legacy giving is an act of faith. The Legacy Giving Program at First Presbyterian Church provides members with an opportunity to express their faith, transform lives, and strengthen the mission of the church for generations to come. We invite you to consider the various ways that you can participate in the ministry of the church by making a planned gift or a gift from your estate. For many people, a legacy gift provides one with an opportunity to make a more generous gift than they can make during their lifetime.

Ways to give:

  • A charitable Bequest made through your will
  • A gift from your retirement account by designating the church as a charitable beneficiary
  • A life insurance policy by designating the church as a beneficiary of your policy
  • A Charitable Gift Annuity allows one to make a future gift to the church while receiving income during one’s lifetime

These gifts can be designated for unrestricted use or for something specific. Unrestricted gifts are used where the need is the greatest. Church officers can determine if a gift is used for a much-needed repair of the church facility, a mission project, a campaign, or other priority. These gifts provide much needed resources to support the ongoing ministry of the church.
