FPC Workday with Rebuilding Together of the Triangle – Saturday, October 23

Rebuilding Together of the Triangle –
A Call for Volunteers for FPC Workday
FPCERS, please join us for a volunteer workday to replace siding for a homeowner near Old Oxford Highway in Durham. We will replace damaged Masonite siding with fiber cement siding on three sides of the house. Some trim will be replaced as well. We will also paint the new siding and trim and will need lots of help. This will be our first repair workday since the pandemic started. All work is outdoors and we will wear masks. We request that volunteers be fully vaccinated.
We are using an online signup that divides the day into two shifts, but feel free to work all day. We will not finish in one day, so the RTT staff will complete the remaining work. The link to the signup page: FPC VOLUNTEER SIGNUP. We ask that volunteers be at least 16 years old.
RTT will provide all tools, but it is fine to bring your own hand tools and tool belt. Water and snacks are provided, but not lunch. First-time volunteers are welcome since we need to expand our pool of mission trip workers.
Please call Tyler Momsen-Hudson with any questions at (919) 697-1898 or email Tyler at: [email protected].

New mask guidance for indoor gatherings!

Citizens of the Triangle have been under a mandate to wear masks when inside public spaces to help fight the delta variant and ‘pandemic of the unvaccinated.’ FPC is adhering to this mandate and asking members and friends to wear masks when inside buildings at FPC.
To keep everyone worshipping in the sanctuary as safe as possible as the pandemic continues: (All worship participants will be vaccinated, of course.) |
Proposed Expansion & Renovation Plan

Our church facilities have been a blessing both to our faith community, and the larger Durham community. In order to grow in our efforts to be welcoming, mission-driven, and a source of encouragement to both our membership and our community, changes and improvements to our physical plant need to be considered. We see opportunities to continue to grow in congregational ministries and community partnerships through significant, targeted expansion and renovation of our current facilities.
Based on guidance from the long-range plan presented to the congregation in 2019, preliminary building expansion and renovation plans have been developed and are now being shared with you in an informational brochure at this link: BROCHURE. Please take time to read it to be more informed. Contact the church office to request a copy be sent to you by email or US mail. |
We have returned to the sanctuary for in-person worship and we are still broadcasting online. What you need to know . . .

- The summer Faith & Community class for adults will have six weeks led by the Anti-Racism Task Force (June 6 – July 11) studying the book The Best of Enemies: Race and Redemption in the New South, followed by five weeks of discussion of The Black Church, the documentary by Henry Louis Gates, Jr. (July 18 – August 15). The Faith & Community class will meet via Zoom from 10:00-10:45 a.m. on Sundays, June 6 and 13. Beginning Sunday, June 20 and following, class will meet via Zoom from 9:45-10:30 a.m. unless otherwise publicized.
- The Lectionary, Journeys and Scratch adult classes will meet this summer as well. Start times and locations/Zoom links for each of these classes to be announced.
- The Women’s Spiritual Formation Class will not meet this summer. They will join with the Faith & Community class via Zoom.
Intergenerational Event – May 30

On Sunday, May 30, our youth and children’s Sunday School classes will not meet. Instead, we ask that families join us from 4:30-5:30 p.m. on the church grounds as we show love to our neighbors and reconnect with each other. We will be assembling items for hygiene kits that our friends at Urban Ministries will distribute. After we’re done with this project, there will be yard games and a bring-your-own picnic on the back lawn. This is a great event for those who are fully vaccinated and ready to reconnect.
